Porto Petro

The small port Porto Petro is located on the southeast coast of the island of Majorca, near the natural park Mondrago and Cala D'Or and is one of the best natural harbors on the island. The village with about 500 inhabitants, can offer traditional atmosphere, some small shops, boutiques, cafes and restaurants. Nice to have a visit to the restaurant Los Caracoles in the harbour with a good, traditional cuisine and a beautiful view of the ocean directly. The landscape of the place is mainly characterized by small single-and multi-family houses. There are only a few, but very cozy hotel, which adapted the ideal Majorcan lifestyle. To stay the single and multi-family homes are ideal because they are often rented by the residents to the tourists. Nevertheless, the typical island tourism is not yet collected on this site, thereby you can enjoy your day without stressful noise or crowded restaurants. The place has preserved its traditional character is still little developed for tourism and belongs to the municipality of Santanyi. Right on fishing and yacht harbour of Porto Petro is a diving school with an experienced and knowledgeable team. The area is also suitable for hiking, walking, cycling and long walks. In the town itself there are only 2 small sand coves, Calo de Sa Torre and the Cala Egos and rocky sections where you can enter into the sea for diving or snorkeling. The Cala Egos is during the summer months often overcrowded. Families with children, we recommend a visit to the beautiful and sheltered beach Es Pou to Cala D'Or, Es Forti, bays and beaches at Cala D'Or, or in the other direction, toward Mondrago Park the beautiful, turquoise bays Cala Barca, Cala Borgit and Cala d'Or. These beaches are all within 5 - 10 minutes by car. Who once like a little more excitement is certainly in the approximately 10-minute drive away from the center of Cala D'Or the right environment. In Cala D'Or, there are numerous restaurants, cafes, bars and nightclubs. The shops range from the small, chic boutiques to department store. Wen, however, on the nature and to the peaceful Mallorca attracts, we recommend the Nature Park Mondrago excursions toward Alqueria Blanca, Santanyi, Calonge, Horta and further into the heart of the island of Mallorca with many attractions and beautiful landscapes.
