Llucmajor Llucmajor is located inland on the south coast of Majorca and is geographically the largest municipality on the island. The rural town is often in the shadow of the surrounding glamorous resorts. The Talayot site 'Capocorb Vell', which was among the first settlements of this area can still be visited today and is the oldest archaeological site in Mallorca. Llucmajor was first mentioned in 1259 when the first church was built. In 1349, Llucmajor witnessed the great struggle between James III. of Mallorca and Peter IV of Aragon, this led to the independence of the island. With the production of shoes and the craft of stone, iron and wood Llucmajor was known as an industrial center and enjoyed great economic success in the 20th century. Agriculture also has a tradition here. Today, there are still large apricot and almond groves around the city. Llucmajor continues to be successful and not entirely dependent on tourism, which means that there is something going on here all year round. One of the great assets of the city is its location. Short driving times to the international airport Son Sant Joan and the city center of Palma they put direct connection to the motorway network at the foot of the Randaberges. Palma is only 30 minutes away, is easy to reach via the motorway and offers the best shopping. From the end of September, Llucmajor hosts various festivities over several weekends, including a large market of local produce and handicrafts. The weekly market takes place on Sundays.
